John Hays Hardin 81, of Scottsburg, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at his residence.   He was born on May 21, 1934 in Washington County, Kentucky, the son of the late Marvin and Mary (Hays) Hardin. John retired in May 1994 after 39 years at Indiana Kentucky Electric Corporation.  He enjoyed farming and playing cards with friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents,; a sister, Bonnie H. Smith and his companion’s daughter, Tammy McKinley.  Survivors include his companion, Veda Naugle of Scottsburg and her children Mark and Bradley Naugle of Salem, Indiana; his four sons, Danny Hardin (Barbara) of Austin, Indiana, Tony (Brenda), John and David Hardin all of Lexington, Indiana; two daughters,  Debbie Meyer (Ed) of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Lynn Fleming (Jeff) of Fishers, Indiana; a sister, Doris Shearer of Greenwood, Indiana; nine grandchildren Brittney Meyer Wardlaw, Brandon and Bryan Meyer, Jonathan and Brady Fleming, Zachary, Kirk, Kevin and Megan Hardin and four great grandchildren Kaidyn and Keegan Wardlaw and Ella and Ethan Meyer.
