Joy Ann Collins, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her residence. She was born on September 26, 1937 in North Vernon , Indiana, the daughter of the late Richard Plessinger and Margaret (Butler) Plessinger. Joy graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1955 and married her husband, Oakley Collins that summer on June 24. She was a former employee of the Scott County Auditor’s Office and also worked for the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana, In addition, Joy formerly worked at Regal Insulation, ran a newspaper route for Courier Journal and a was the bookkeeper for the old Best Western Hotel. She was baptized and grew up attending Scaffold Lick Baptist Church, but has been a member of the Zoah Christian Church ever since marrying her husband. Joy was also acitive in the Lydia Dorcas Circle in her church and a former member of the Red Hats Society. She loved to travel and sold numerous products over the years from her home for various companies. Joy was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon, Malvern and Larry Plessinger; a sister, Carol J. Weaver and a great granddaughter, Jadyn Rae-Ann Collins. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Oakley Collins; two daughters, Pat Collins-Cain of Scottsburg, Indiana and Lisa Collins-Cruz (Victor) of Blocher, Indiana; three sons, Jeff Collins (Donna) of Scottsburg, Indiana, Greg Collins (Jenny) of Fountain Inn, South Carolina and Doug Collins (Sheryl Jeffries) of Scottsburg, Indiana; fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
