Larry R. Murphy, 75, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus, Indiana. He was born on January 22, 1944 in Rushville, Indiana, the son of the late Elmer Scott and Thelma Vivian (Railing) Murphy. Larry graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1962 and then Spencerian Business College in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a retired Logistics Analyst for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, where he worked for 32 years and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Larry enjoyed woodworking, building models and gardening . He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Chad Murphy and two sisters, Mary K. Zollman and Darlene Palmer. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Ruth (Doane) Murphy; two sons, David Murphy and his wife Angela of Scottsburg, Indiana and Gary Murphy of Columbus, Indiana; a grandson, William Murphy of Scottsburg, Indiana; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Cremation services were entrusted to Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be given to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana c/o Collins Funeral Home, 465 W. McClain Ave., Scottsburg, Indiana 47170.
