My deepest sympathy to LaVern's wife and family for their loss. I worked with LaVern at Eli Lilly and he was a great asset to the Company and his colleagues.

Vern fit perfectly the definition of a wonderful and very genuine human being -- always willing to help, great sense of humor, absolute integrity about everything he did and everything he said. I, along with all of Vern’s friends, will remember Vern as a person you could talk to about absolutely anything. He would listen intently, respond accordingly and that always, always made us feel good. What more could one ask of friendship. Vern was a great friend and just a great guy – in every respect. We will miss you Vern but will retain wonderful memories of your friendship. You brightened the life of everyone you met. Nobody could ask for a better friend than that. Rest in peace FRIEND.

Vern was one of the first Lilly employees we met upon moving to Indianapolis. Over the years we became very close friends with Vern and his family. We made several Caribbean cruises together and had great fun living at Pensacola Beach. Vern was a warm and gentle man to all those who knew him. Our prayers go out to Barbara and family. We will miss you, Vern. Your friends forever.
