Loren L. Rutherford, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 8, 1936 in Washington County, Indiana, the son of the late Elmo and Irene (Bane) Rutherford. Loren graduated from Salem High School in 1956 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1991 from the old Contel Company in Scottsburg, Indiana and also worked at the old Smith Cabinet Factory in Salem, Indiana, Public Service Indiana and at the Little York Stock Yard. Loren also traded and trained Quarter Horses for many years. He was the former president and honorary member of Scott County Sheriff’s Posse, former member of American Legion Post #234 and past Board Member of Mt. Hebron Cemetery Association. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Lillian (McCreery) Rutherford; a daughter, Melissa Lynn Allen of Louisville, Kentucky; a son: Loren Travis Rutherford and his wife Tiffany of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Leland Rutherford and his wife Carolyn of Salem, Indiana and six grandchildren, Raymond, Garrett and Nate Rutherford and Suzanna, David and Katie Matthews.
