Lowell Edward Amburgey, 73, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on November 28, 1940 in Lionelli, Kentucky, the son of the late Carl Edward and Stella (Stewart) Amburgey. Lowell attended Silver Creek High School in Sellersburg, Indiana. He was a retired machinist starting at the old International Harvestor in Louisville, Kentucky, then also worked at Peerless in Salem, Indiana and Navistar in Springfield, Ohio. He was a Christian and professed his faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post # 234 where he enjoyed many friendships. After retirement he enjoyed spending his winters fishing in Okeechobee, Florida. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Barbara Weller and Pearlean Amburgey. Survivors include his wife, Alice J. (Rueff) Amburgey; three sons, David Amburgey (Dianna) of Sandborn, Indiana, Brian Amburgey (Missy) and Michael Amburgey (Jennifer) all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Zelma Scholl (Robert) of Memphis, Indiana; a brother, Linville Amburgey (Kay) of Florida; seven grandchildren, Rickey Peltier (Jayne), Heather Wuthrich (Erik), Staci Helms (Jason), Zack Vandergriff, Logan, Shelby and Sydney Amburgey and five great grandchildren, Ryan Peltier, Peyton and Parker Wuthrich and Kaden and Kysen Helms. Private services were held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Memorial Contributions: Charity of Donors Choice c/o Collins Funeral Home.
