Lt. Col. Donald Dale Sipe, Retired

Lt. Col. Donald Dale Sipe, Retired, 75, of Whiteland, Indiana, formerly of Scottsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 13, 1942 in Deputy, Indiana, the son of the late Donald Malcolm Sipe and Elsie M. (Sweet) Sipe. Donald was a retired Lt. Col. from the U. S. Army retiring after 28 years. He served two tours as a Captain in Vietnam War and was awarded numerous Medals, including two Purple Hearts, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallentry with Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal with “V” and a Bronze Star Medal – 5th OLC. He was a Senior Instructor for JROTC at Demopolis High School in Demopolis, Alabama and a Republican Delegate for Johnson County, Indiana. Donald was also a substitute for the State of Indiana and Oregon. He was a Catholic, a former member of the Lions Club, NRA and VFW. Donald loved gardening, cooking and anything to do with his cat, Mr. Cheeto. Survivors include a son, Eric Sipe of Mooresville, Indiana); two brothers, Danny D. Sipe and Delbert D. Sipe both of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Dolores “Tinker” Sipe-Smith of Bedford, Texas; two granddaughters, Talia Oakes and Sierra Hines and two great grandchildren: Lillian Lacey and Maximillion Oakes.

Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph L. Villa officiating. Visitation: 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
