Lyle Andrew “Andy” Donahue, 53, of Hobe Sound, Florida, formerly of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Martin Hospital South in Stuart, Florida. A man blessed with an infectious smile and an easy-going nature, Andy was born in Scottsburg and was the son of the late Loren Allen and Alice Dean Donahue. He was a member of the Scottsburg High School Class of 1982, and he attended Vincennes University, taking business classes and, building on his love of creative and attractive cooking, culinary instruction. That education was expanded over the years through his catering and other jobs in the food industry and at a family-owned and -operated restaurant, Donahue’s, in Austin. Andy also worked for Scott School District 2, serving as transportation and food director for several years. During his years in Scott County, Andy could be counted upon to participate in fund-raisers, particularly the Methodist Church’s smorgasbords. He was also a member of the Scottsburg Lions Club and enjoyed attending local high school sporting events to support the Warriors and Warriorettes. He could always be counted on as a worker at the Lions Clubs’ many fundraisers, usually cooking at the events. As his parents’ health began to fail, he spent the last few years of his life caring for Alice and Allen and traveling with them to their winter home in Hobe Sound, Fl. After they both passed on, Andy moved permanently to Florida and enjoyed the companionship of many friends there. He is survived by and dearly loved Lindsey Gladstein-Denk, her husband, Shawn and their children, Brennan and Camden of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and Jonathan Gladstein of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister, Pat Donahue-Bates and husband Dan of Greenville, Indiana; a brother, Lonnie Allen Donahue and wife Alfreda of Scottsburg, Indiana; two nieces, Eliza Donahue and her son Landon of Scottsburg, Indiana and Torrie Bates Marvin, husband Blake and their son Evan of Sellersburg, Indiana; nephew, Aaron Bates and wife Rebecka of New Albany, Indian. I am saddened to learn of Andy's death. We were classmates growing up, and although we weren't close friends, I remember his kindness to me in 6th grade after my mother had died. That he was friendly to me at that time meant a lot to me, and thus I remember his kindness. I remember as well that he could tease me when I damned well deserved it, too! I shall pray for the repose of his soul, and that the love of God shall surround him through all eternity.

May Andy be remembered by all the lives he touched. He will be sorely missed by his friends in the Scottsburg Lions Club where he was always smiling and working hard on the grill or providing assistance for our work in the community. A special friend and former student who made this former teacher proud. He will be missed!

Many fond memories with Andy from high school and college. Although we had only occasionally crossed paths over the ensuing years, Andy so kindly went out of his way attend my Mother's funeral a few years ago. Such a generous and kind friend will be missed by many. Rest in peace!

I was about 5 years old when I met Andy. He was a lifeguard at the pool and I immediately developed my first crush. He looked like a Malibu Ken doll, tan and blond. He’d blow up my water wings for me. He’d comfort little kids in the “baby pool”. It’s funny the things you remember about people. That was 40 years ago but he will always be a sweet memory for me. I graduated from the baby pool and so did he. He was present the day I jumped off the diving board for the first time. Years later we became neighbors. He was the sweetest guy. Rest In Peace.
