Lyn D. Rhoten, 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hickory Creek of Scottsburg. He was born on April 24, 1946 in Austin, Indiana, the son of the late Emory Rhoten and Eliza (Early) Rhoten. Lyn graduated from Scottsburg High School and then earned his Bachelors Degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. After leaving Bloomington, he earned his Masters Degree from Boston University. Lyn retired as an employment consultant for Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. Prior to working at Vincennes University, he was a social studies teacher at Scottsburg and Columbus North High Schools for many years. He was a member of the Vienna Baptist Church and loved reading and studying history. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maude Hughbanks and Thelma Hurst and five brothers, Troy, Roy, Echol, Gene and Arthur Rhoten.
