Marilyn C. Colwell, 76, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her residence. She was born on November 28, 1938 in New Albany, Indiana, the daughter of the late Chester Sevedge and Martha (Cochran) Dobson. Marilyn was a retired employee of the old Holm Industries in Scottsburg, Indiana, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post # 6582 in Scott County, nominated for the Mayor’s Good Neighbor Award in 2014, was a member of the Scottsburg Beautification Committee and was involved in the development of the the Scott County Clearinghouse and Pig Roast in the Park, helped numerous homeless people and volunteered for over 21 years at the pick up center for We Care. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie Colwell and 13 siblings. Survivors include a son, Dennis Colwell of Nokomis, Florida; two daughters, Doris Colwell of Austin, Indiana and Dana Wilson of Scottsburg, Indiana; three brothers, Doug Dobson of Chelsea, Indiana, Don Dobson of Ohio and Michael Dobson of Virginia; a sister, Anna Lynch of Jeffersonville, Indiana; four grandsons, Samuel Matthew Colwell (Lisa) of Fortville, Indiana, Duncan Eric Colwell and Gary Lynn Wilson of Scottsburg, Indiana and Dennis Bryan Colwell (Sarah) of Ohio; three great grandchildren, Kylie and Shane Colwell and Brooklyn Hunley.
