Mary Frances “Fran” Sands

Mary Frances “Fran” Sands, 80, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at The Waters of Scottsburg. She was born on March 7, 1937 in Henry County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Porter Taylor and Cora Della (Capps) Ray. Fran was the owner and operator of Fran’s Beauty Shop and also a former hostess at the old Best Western both in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was a member of the Church of the American Martyrs and a former member of the American Legion Executive Board. Fran was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Olene Collings-Fukano and Pauline Dake and a brother, Paul Taylor. Survivors include three sons, Paul E. Sands and Roger D. Sands both of Scottsburg, Indiana and Steve Sands and his wife Wilma of New Albany, Indiana; one granddaughter, Leslie Staggers and her husband Derrick and four great grandchildren, Ezra, Molly, Zoe, and Natalie Staggers. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at American Martyrs Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph L. Villa officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be in Scottsburg Cemetery.
