Mary Lou Bowen, 82, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Hanover Health and Rehab Center. She was born on November 21, 1934 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ervin Bixler and Lula (Watterson) Bixler. Mary Lou was a homemaker but had also worked as a former cook at the old Moore’s Fiesta in Scottsburg, Indiana. In addition she had worked at the old Scottsburg Novelty and an old Tomato Plant in Henryville. She was a member of the Safe Harbor Christian Church in Memphis, Indiana. Mary Lou loved Avon products, embroidery and taking care of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin Bixler and Donnie Miller and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Bowen. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lee A. Bowen; four sons, Gary L. Bowen and his wife Linda of Louisville, Kentucky, Ronnie L. Bowen and his wife Susie of Martinsville, Indiana, Jerry L. Bowen and his wife Candy and Donnie L. Bowen and his wife Theresa all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Janie Rice and her husband Bert of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Robert Bixler and his wife Debbie of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Edna Thomas of Henryville, Indiana and Betty Jean Bradshaw of St. Petersburg, Florida; a sister-in-law, Roxanna Bixler of Scottsburg, Indiana; nine grandchildren, J.R., Lee, Bud, Lisa, Leigh Ann, Bradley, Carson, Adrian and Scotty and thirteen great grandchildren.
