Melvin C. Asher, 70, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on July 6, 1949 in Windsor, Kentucky, the son of the late Pearl and Bessie (Smith) Asher. Melvin was a retired truck independent driver, had also worked for International Harvester and A. Arnold & Son Trucking and was a Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George Akin and Windell Asher and his beloved dogs, Benji and Shelby. Survivors include a brother, James Carl Smith and his wife Betty of Las Vegas, Nevada; a niece who cared for him, Chasidy Lawless of New Albany, Indiana and several other nieces and nephews.
