Paula D. Campbell, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana. She was born on November 9, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Frank Ramirez and Florence (Shagonaby) Ramirez. Paula was a homemaker and also a former switchboard operator and automobile painter. She was a member of the American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg, Indiana and an enrolled member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. Paula enjoyed word search games and puzzles and was a strong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Diabetes Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert B. Campbell; two brothers, Frank and Ralph Ramirez; a sister, Mary Ramirez and a granddaughter, Amy Rose. Survivors include two sons, John Campbell and his wife Sheila of Scottsburg, Indiana and Herbert Bruce Campbell and his wife Rita of Paris Crossing, Indiana; four daughters, Cecilia “Cindy” Barger and her husband Linton of Seymour, Indiana, Valaria “Val” Issa of Harrison Township, Michigan, Mary Jane Campbell of Seymour, Indiana and Caroline Stecki of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; a brother, Ray Ramirez of Southgate, Michigan; four sisters, Marian Boucher of Lansing, Michigan, Carmen O’Brien of Dowagiac, Michigan, Ann Smiechowski of Ecarse, Michigan and Maria Pelc of Dearborn, Michigan; 30 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at American Martyrs Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph L. Villa, officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Interment will be in Scaffold Lick Cemetery in Blocher, Indiana.
