Robert G. Martin, 88, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 24, 1925 in New Albany, Indiana, the son of the late J. Gilbert and Anna M. (Mutch) Martin. He was married on Aug. 10, 1944 to Bonnie B. Collins. Bob was the retired owner of the Martin Insurance Agency in Scottsburg, Indiana and also retired President and Chairman of the Board of the Scottsburg Building and Loan Association. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1943, was a member of the First Christian Church, a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, a 70 year member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge # 555, 25 year member of the Scottsburg Volunteer Fire Department, a 32nd Degree member of the Scottsburgh Lodge # 572 F & AM and member of the Scottsburg Lions Club. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bonnie Martin; a son, Greg Martin and his wife Brenda of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Cindy Martin of Scottsburg, Indiana, three grandchildren, Marty Bishop and his wife Stephanie and James “Boo” Bishop and his wife Tiffany and Matt Martin and two great grandchildren, Audrey and Drew Bishop. Cremation was requested and private services were held at the First Christian Church with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery.
