Rodney Rudder, loving husband, son, brother, father and grandfather, passed away at the early age of 64. Rodney was born on June 13, 1953 in Salem, Indiana to James and Elizabeth, “Libby” Rudder. Rodney was a true patriot who proudly served as a Major in the United States National Guard and retired after 22 years of service. After the Guard, Rodney went on to serve his community once again and had just recently retired from the Scott County Sheriff’s Department after 21 years of service. Rodney was known for his straight-forward honesty, his love for his family and friends, Rudder Electric, and riding his Harley with his loving wife and friends. Rodney was also a member of the Scott County Conservation Club (if you need directions, it’s on Rodney Rudder Road in Scottsburg), the Scottsburg Lodge # 572 F & AM, Scott County Moose lodge # 2324, Amick-Baker-Kellems Lodge # 156, and the American Legion Post # 234. Rodney was a true friend, the kind of guy you could call in the middle of the night and say I need you, and without a question from him, he would be there. Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Ann Rudder and his stepdaughter, Kyndra Jones. He is survived by his wife of 21 years Dianna, his father James, “Jim” Rudder, his sister, Sheila Rudder, his children, Cory (Allison) Rudder, Kelley (Julie) Rudder, Kerry (Paul) Manke, stepson Ryan (Senna) Jones, and the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Libby and Zachary Rudder, Karl and Caroline Manke, Evelyn and William Rudder, Cody Newsome, Cayden Colon and Hayden, Hayzlea, and Hayclyn Jones. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Scott County Conservation Club in Rodney’s honor, c/o Collins Funeral Home, 465 W. McClain Ave., Scottsburg, IN 47170. So sorry for your loss. I served with Rodney in the 76th BDE in Bedford. He was a great mentor for me.
