Roy Howard, 84, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on April 29, 1934 in Confluence, Kentucky, the son of the late Ballard and Edna Howard. Roy was a retired self-employed mechanic at the old Howard’s Garage in Austin, Indiana. Prior to starting his own garage, he was a chief mechanic for American Airlines at O’Hare Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Roy was a member of the Trinity House of Prayer in Austin, Indiana and had served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He enjoyed training and riding horses and square dancing. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Berta Lee Howard; a great grandson, Jude Howard; two brothers, James and Boyd Howard; three sisters, Thelma McIntosh, Eleanor Hughes and Fannie Fox and a son-in-law, Ronnie Daniel. Survivors include three sons, Roy Lee Howard of Scottsburg, Indiana, Ronald Howard and his wife Mikki of Austin, Indiana and Richard Howard and his wife Missy of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Diane Daniel of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Perlina Harrington of Henderson, Kentucky and Alice Lyons of Chesterfield, Illinois; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
