Roy James Trabue, 94, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Lake Pointe Village. He was born on October 29, 1924 in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of the late Ralph Raleigh Trabue and Anna (Rolf) Trabue. Roy was a Austin High School graduate of the Class of 1944. He left high school his senior year for the U.S. Marine Corp and served his country in WW II. As a result of his leaving for WW II, he didn’t receive his diploma until age 85 at the Austin Alumni Banquet. Roy was a retired semi truck driver for Morgan Foods in Austin, Indiana, where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church in Austin, Indiana, the Scott County V.F.W. Post # 6582 and was an avid gardener. Roy served as an inspector for the United Midwestern Promoters Dirt Track Racing for many years, and in 2017 was inducted into the organizations Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Bedell and three brothers, Ralph, George and John Trabue. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Barbara Jean (Fawbush) Trabue; three sons Steve Trabue, Tim Trabue and Jim Trabue and wife Yvonne all of Scottsburg, Indiana; a daughter, Jody Trabue of Milton, Florida; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
