Ruth Ann Combs, 73, of Austin, Indiana passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was born on January 19, 1941 in Scott County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Ellis Samuel and Carlie Louise (McConahay) Hazelwood. Ruth was a former employee of Morgan Foods, Inc. in Austin, Indiana, the old I. T. T. Thompson’s in North Vernon, Indiana and she attended the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church near Austin, Indiana. Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Combs; two sisters, Linda Gail Gilbert and Tammy Hazelwood; a brother, Franklin Hazelwood and three grandchildren, Kayla and Travis Hurt and Mikey Barnett. Survivors include three daughters, Rita Hurt and her husband Willie of Scottsburg, Indiana, Karen Barnett and her husband Michael of Austin, Indiana and Eva Baker and her husband Anthony of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Stanley Hazelwood of Scottsburg, Indiana; four sisters, Nancy White & Eva Johnson both of Scottsburg, Indiana, Martha Alvey of Seymour, Indiana and Ella Sturdevant of Austin, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nathan Holland, Marty Barnett and William Hurt and six great grandchildren.
