Shelby L. Charley, Sr., 81, of Lexington, Indiana passed away August 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Oaktown, Indiana, the son of the late Ernest Leo and Cleo (Meeks) Charley. He was a retired millwright for the Indiana/Kentucky Carpenters & Millwrights Local #1031 in Louisville, Kentucky. Shelby was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scottsburg, Indiana. He lived most of his life in Scott County, Indiana. He was married July 3, 1953 to Maebell (Johnson) Charley, who survives. He was preceded in death by a two sons, William Joseph and Shelby L. Charley, Jr. and a granddaughter, Heather Christine Anderson. Survivors include: His wife: Maebell: two daughters: Rhonda (Carey) Thompson and Karen (Benny) Anderson all of Lexington, Indiana; a son: Roger Smith of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters: Cheryl D. Pulliam of Salem, Indiana and Carol L. Sloan of Milltown, Indiana. five grandchildren: Bobbi Henson of Scottsburg, Indiana, Shirley Marie Charley of Seymour, Indiana, Steven & Jacob Charley both of Salem and Ethan Anderson of Lexington, Indiana; four great grandchildren: Shae and Noah Henson both of Scottsburg, Indiana; Hope Perdue of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Chantel Charley of Salem, Indiana.
