Silas Gibson, 73, of Paris Crossing, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on June 19, 1942 in Leslie County, Kentucky, the son of the late Estill Gibson and Mallie (Buttrey) Gibson. Silas was retired from Jennings County Highway Department, was a former steel worker for the old North Vernon Forge Company in North Vernon and a Coal Miner. He was a Baptist, a member of the National Rifle Association and loved to fish and hunt. Silas was preceded in death by three daughters, Elaine and Linda Gibson and Dorothy Sizemore; two brothers, Tester and Howard Gibson; four sisters, Vernie Baker, Pairlee Gibson, Ocie Woods, and Ester Rice and two grandchildren, Patricia Marie Brooks and Baby Bowyer. Survivors include his wife, Marie (Couch) Gibson; five daughters, Judy Smith (Joe) of Saul, Kentucky, Emma Brooks (Russell) of Madison, Indiana, Sharon Richardson (Ricky) of Commiskey, Indiana, Mallie Jean Gibson (Claude Martin, Jr.) of Brutus, Kentucky and Regina Bowyer (Eric) of Deputy, Indiana; three sons, Daniel Gibson (Jane) of Scottsburg, Indiana, Boone Gibson of Deputy, Indiana and Arthur Gibson of Paris Crossing, Indiana; three sisters, Bessie Rice (Paul) of Austin, Indiana, Lois Osborne of Sommerset, Kentucky and Onzie Baker of Oneida, Kentucky; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
