Steven Douglas Cain, 57, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born on September 19, 1961 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, the son of Donald and Shirley (Arnold) Cain. Steve graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1980 and then attended Indiana State University for a year before enlisting into the U.S. Navy. He later returned to Indiana State and earned his Bachelor’s Degree, then continued his education earning his Master’s Degree from Indiana Weslyan University. Steve was a retired athletic and recreation director for the Indiana Bureau of Prisons, working at the Camp Atterbury and Henryville facilities and served as an E3 in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include a son Ryan Cain and wife Sara; a daughter, Brianna Kohnke and husband Kyle; his parents, Don and Shirley Cain of Scottsburg, Indiana; two brothers, Jeff Cain and wife Ruth of Melbourne, Florida and Gary Cain and wife Denise of Scottsburg, Indiana and seven grandchildren, Kylee, Adara, Michael, Varonicca, Esme, Wendy and Freya. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations be given to Collins Funeral Home to help with Steve’s final expenses.
