Wallace Dale Fox Sr., 75, of Salem, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 18, 1944 in Beattyville, Kentucky to the late James Hurshel Fox and Ruth (Turner) Fox. Wallace was a former resident of Austin, Indiana having graduated from Austin High School in 1962. Wallace served during the Vietnam War, reaching the rank of Sergeant upon his discharge from the United States Air Force. He was a retired Chief Shop Steward for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana, where he worked for 30 years and a former member of the Diesel Workers Union. Wallace loved the outdoors and really enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Wallace also loved to travel having been to 47 states as well as overseas which included a recent trip to New Zealand with his son. In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Gabbard; a brother, Wayne Fox, and a son-in-law, Marvin Gabbard. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sue Fox of Austin, Indiana; his son, Wallace D. Fox, Jr. (Jeff Wendling) of New Albany, Indiana; a brother, Leonard Fox of Austin, Indiana; two granddaughters, Rebekah and Emily Gabbard of Austin, Indiana; his companion of 30 years, Janice Stacy of Salem, Indiana; Janice’s children, Jeff Mullins, April, Lindsey and Heather Albertson; her numerous grandchildren, including Brooklynn Albertson who he helped raise, three nieces, four nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
