William Franklin “Bill” Richards, Jr., 96, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Beehive Homes of Scottsburg. He was born in Richland, Illinois, the son of the late William Franklin Richards, Sr. and Della (Ellis) Richards. He graduated from Scottsburg High School in 1936. Bill was a retired laborer for the old American Can Company in Austin, Indiana, a member and former Deacon of Bethel Baptist Church in Leota, Indiana and a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of W.W. II. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Maurine Kull, Ione Kern, Juanita Miller, Mary Lois Garriott and Ruth Pyle and a brother, Otis “Roundy” Richards. Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Emogene (Richey) Richards; a son, Stephen F. Richards and his wife Loretta of Sellersburg, Indiana; two grandsons, Jason R. Richards and his wife Karissa of Florida and Joshua F. Richards of Scottsburg, Indiana; a brother, Robert L. Richards and his wife Barbara of Scottsburg, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Helen Trueblood of Scottsburg, Indiana and two great grandsons, Athan K. and Grady W. Richards.
