William R. “Bill” Mullins, 86, of Underwood, Indiana, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on March 2, 1933 in Knott County, Kentucky, the son of the late Newton Mullins, Sr. and Lizzie (Gibson) Mullins-Everage. Bill was married on August 15, 1950 to Hester (Smith) Mullins, who passed away on October 13, 2005. He was a retired kiln burner operator for the old Louisville Cement Company in Speed, Indiana, where he worked for 24 years and was also co-owner of the old Mullins Brothers Auction Barn in Underwood, Indiana. Bill was a member of the Little Zion Old Regular Baptist Church in Charlestown, Indiana, enjoyed gardening, woodworking and growing flowers. He loved to sit and watch for birds and especially Purple Martins. Bill spent a lot of his time after retirement going to auctions and even had his own number “Double Zero” and excelled in gun trading. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Ray Mullins; three brothers, Edmund, Eldridge Dee and Newton Mullins, Jr. and four sisters, Hattie Bowman, Fronia Fields, Wanda Lee Combs and Irene Nickles. Survivors include four sons, Billy Dean Mullins (Debbie) and Bobby G. Mullins (Machell) all of Scottsburg, Indiana, Luther Mullins of Underwood, Indiana and Marcus Mullins of Austin, Indiana; four daughters, Joyce Ann Mullins (Bobby) of Lexington, Indiana, Judy Ann Merriman of Scottsburg, Indiana, Patsy Ann Dawson (Frank) of Underwood, Indiana and Betty Louise Foley (Tim) of Louisville, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, J.R. Ward (Brittany), Christy Alexander (Eric), Travis Mullins, Kayla Robbins, Jeremy Mullins (Amy), Morgan Bohlander (Jake), Brandon Mullins, Bruce Merriman and Tiffany Huff and ten great grandchildren, Crosby, Briley, Cory, Karson, Ella, Ethan, Braylon, Madison, Zoey and Bryson.
