William R “Bill” Porter, 70 of Underwood, Indiana, passed away onWednesday, August 19, 2015, at Floyd Memorial Hospital, in New Albany, Indiana. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of the late Thelma (Porter ) Combs. Raised by the late William and Otie Holmes Porter. He was a retired dispatcher of the old Best Way Trucking Sellersburg, Indiana and belonged to American Legion Post #234 in Scottsburg, Indiana. Bill was preceded in death by four brothers; Jesse, Manuel, Taylor, and Samuel Porter and three sisters Pauline Baker, Halla Mae Hutchinson, and Billy Jean Ruff. Survivors include his wife, Elma Porter of Underwood, Indiana; a daughter, Naomi (Eric) Petty of Henryville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Cyrus, Jesse and Emma Petty; a son, Kevin (Ky Groover) Porter of Underwood, Indiana; two grandchildren,Gabe and Isaac Groover; five brothers: David Combs of Oakdale, Illinois, Ronald and Donnie Combs both of Combs, Kentucky, Tommy Porter of Ocala, Florida, and Carlo Porter of Blocher, Indiana; three sisters: Thelma Sue Emery of Combs, Kentucky, Helen Campbell and Polly Ruth Strong both of Austin, Indiana.
